Research Project: "The Impact of Martial Arts on Development and Health: Poland - Okinawa"

Project Goal:

The 'The Impact of Martial Arts on Development and Health: Poland - Okinawa' project is designed to unlock the potential benefits of traditional Okinawan martial arts (Karate and Kobudo) on the physical and mental health of youth, children, and seniors. In collaboration with universities from Poland and Okinawa, the project aims to investigate how practicing these martial arts can lead to improved physical development, mental resilience, aggression reduction, and the overall quality of life of the participants.

Research Topics

  1. Physical Health: Impact on Physical Fitness: Studying the improvement in physical fitness, strength, flexibility, and motor coordination in children, youth, and seniors. Disease Prevention: Analyzing the effect of regular martial arts training on preventing lifestyle diseases such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.
  2. Mental Health: Mental Resilience: Studying how martial arts practice influences mental resilience, stress management, and overall well-being. Aggression Reduction: Analyzing whether regular training in karate and kobudo helps reduce aggression levels and improve social behaviors in children and youth.
  3. Social and Emotional Development: Building Relationships: Studying how participation in group martial arts training influences the building of social relationships, cooperation, and a sense of belonging. Self-Esteem Growth: Analyzing the impact of martial arts on increasing self-esteem, confidence, and self-discipline among participants.
  4. Intergenerational Integration: Intergenerational Interactions: Studying how joint martial arts training can promote intergenerational integration, strengthening family and social bonds.

Project Activities:

  1. Partnership with Universities:
    Establishing collaborations with universities in Poland and Okinawa/Japan to conduct scientific research and facilitate knowledge and experience exchange.
  2. Research Programs:
    Develop and implement research programs that will regularly monitor participants and collect data on their physical and mental health.
  3. Scientific Publications:
    Prepare and publish research findings in reputable scientific journals and at scientific conferences to disseminate knowledge about the benefits of practicing martial arts.
  4. Conferences and Seminars:
    Organizing conferences and seminars to facilitate the exchange of research results and experiences among scientists, trainers, and martial arts practitioners from different countries.
  5. Collaboration with Schools and Martial Arts Clubs:
    Establishing partnerships with local schools and martial arts clubs to enable the implementation of research programs in actual training condition.
