Mission of the Foundation for Polish-Okinawan Exchange

Our mission, is the holistic development of individuals through education, culture, and international exchange based on the values of tradition, history, and contemporary civilizational challenges. We strive to build bridges between Poland and Okinawa, promoting mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation.

Goals of the Foundation:

• Promoting a holistic approach to education and human development, integrating physical, spiritual, and intellectual aspects.
• Organizing re-education programs inspired by gymnastic and spiritual traditions, such as those rooted in Karate and Kobudo as forms of art and life discipline

• Initiating and supporting youth exchange programs and scholarships that enable Poles to learn about the culture, history, and values of Okinawa and vice versa.
• Organizing educational, cultural, and scientific study tours to promote mutual understanding and integration.

• Raising public awareness about the value of education, tradition, and culture as the foundations of healthy and sustainable development.
• Promoting respect for teachers and authorities, inspired by Japanese standards, where teachers enjoy immense respect and social recognition.

• Strengthening and developing the foundation's capabilities to provide financial and organizational support for the main activities of the Nowy Sącz Okinawa Karate Club, such as disseminating Okinawa Karate and Kobudo, promoting Okinawa's heritage and culture, international exchanges, scholarships, and inviting and hosting foreign guests.
• Creating educational and cultural centers that will promote the values of tradition and culture in the context of contemporary challenges.

• Engaging local and international communities in the foundation's activities, promoting cooperation and mutual support.
• Inspiring young people to seek role models among teachers, scholars, and traditional martial arts masters rather than individuals who do not represent any valuable life stance and are merely known, famous, and recognizable.

Our Values:

  • Respect: For tradition, history, teachers, and all people as individuals and community members.
  • Education: A holistic approach to human development, considering physical, spiritual, and intellectual needs.
  • Cooperation: International exchange of experiences and values, mutual support, and building bridges between cultures.
  • Personal Development: Encouraging continuous self-improvement through education, physical and spiritual training, and reflection on oneself and the surrounding world.

The Meiryoku Foundation, works towards Polish-Okinawan exchange and strives to create a space where tradition and modernity coexist, enabling holistic human development and mutual understanding and cooperation between Poland and Okinawa.
